Eric joined Brent Coon & Associates in early 2005.
Shortly after he joined the firm he began working on behalf of those injured in the 2005 explosion at the BP Texas City refinery. He spent nearly 3 full years fully immersed in this case. Initially he was responsible for the review and organization of nearly seven million pages of internal documents produced during the litigation. In addition to personally reading several hundred thousand pages of documents, he coordinated the review with numerous BCA attorneys as well as with dozens of other law firms. This work resulted in the discovery of hundreds of documents showing BP’s liability for the explosion including countless written warnings which could have prevented the explosion. Additionally, he worked with many clients to ensure they had adequate medical care. Finally, he spent nearly four months in trial against BP which required extensive daily preparation for the presentation of the case against BP to the jury.
At the conclusion of the BP trial, he was charged with coordinating client intake on behalf of the entire firm. This work primarily involves case evaluation and placement to one of BCA’s offices nationwide. He is also responsible for communication with various law firms who jointly represent clients with BCA.
In addition to his firm wide responsibilities his work includes representing clients with personal injuries, claims against insurance companies for bad faith, consumer protection actions and employment law issues. In a matter of months he successfully resolved claims with a gross value well in excess of half a million dollars. Additionally, he has successfully represented the United Steel Workers in multiple arbitrations resulting in awards of several hundred thousand dollars in back pay to local workers.
